A Vehicle for Education
Mission Statement
A Vehicle for Education supports artistic, musical, educational, and other positive endeavors that would not otherwise exist without our help. Our purpose is to impact the lives of children and adolescents physically, emotionally, and psychologically by creating and providing programs that present them with a wide variety of opportunities specifically designed to develop their skills and enrich their lives.
How A Vehicle for Education Began
On September 12, 2010, the Ides were honored by the City of Berwyn by having the portion of Home Avenue in front of Morton West High School dedicated as The Ides of March Way. All the original members of the Ides were students at Morton West when the band formed, and Morton is where the Ides discovered their love for music. To recognize the honor of the street dedication, the Ides decided to create a college scholarship for a fine arts student chosen by the faculty and staff of the high school.
The student talent is there; but the need for assistance is great. 88.6% of the Morton West school district is low income.
The Ides formed A Vehicle for Education to help expand their scholarship program.
